Sharon Burris.jpg

Sharon Burris

Photographer

Sharon Burris is a fine art photographer. Most of her work is printed on reflective aluminum, giving it a rich, luminescent depth not found in traditional paper prints. She works with what she calls "composite photography," the layering of elements of several self-taken photos to create a multi-layered work that invites viewer interpretation and closer inspection to find the multi-faceted details within the piece. She is a retired associate professor and teaches adjunct communication classes for Murray State College. She and her husband, fellow artist Alan Burris, live in Ardmore.

Fiber Arts

I enjoy combining different techniques in pieces, such as woven towel with a knitted dishcloth or knitted sleeves on a woven garment. My products are not mass produced. There will never be hundreds of the same scarf or shawl woven by me. I am a one-person shop. I’m the owner, curator, creator, weaver, hand-finisher, photographer, packer, and shipper. Sharing my pieces with others brings me satisfaction. My creations are made with care and attention to detail. Handwoven items are a wonderful way of expressing your individuality. Few things in this fast-paced world reflect the time and thoughtfulness put into making and selecting a handmade gift. Giving someone you love a specially selected gift reflects the effort taken by the gift giver to find a unique piece of wearable art.

Tanya Lowrance

Painter, Mixed Media

As a young child, her mother provided her with drawing tablets and colored pencils instead of coloring books since Tanya did not care to color inside the lines. Tanya works with a variety of media. She frequently combines materials to create movement, energy, and bring texture to her work. Tanya believes each art piece “should convey a story or feeling in such a way that the viewer becomes emotionally and or spiritually involved with the piece.” She has long admired Edward Hopper’s work because of the “journey” he portrays. Much of Tanya’s work reflects simple rural Oklahoma scenes and landscapes.

Graphic Design

I go for a whole range of mediums from oil paintings, to mixed media, to woodblock printing, to name a few.  I'd describe my style as deliberately rough and grimy. For brushwork my style leans toward painterly. Carried from those skills I work as a Graphic Design freelancer. I design everything from logos, to posters, to T-shirts. I am a perfectionist and want thorough information from clients before beginning. I enjoy every bit of it!

Kellie Merrick.jpeg

Kellie Merrick

Painter

I grew up in Ardmore and always loved to draw.  I tabled all my artistic endeavors in favor of raising our four sons.  Several years ago I picked up the brush, took a workshop and can’t get enough painting time in.  I have a special love for dog portraits and any attempt to capture God’s glory in His creation.

I have always been the creative kid in class. Even though I wasn't the best kid in class when it came to creativity I never let anything hold me back. I am very intelligent in what I do.

My art is created with intentions of showing captured memories of Choctaw life. My work gains inspiration from the telling of traditional stories, the youth and elders of our nation, the animals we revere, and the landscapes that we hold dear in our memories.

jerold wells.png

Jerold W. Wells, Jr.

Sculpture

Throughout his years working in various mediums, coupled with his sense of pragmatism, functional art has become his bailiwick; signs, tables, chairs, lighting, doors, etc.  His creations can be found all over the downtown Ardmore area in historic commercial and residential properties.  He loves working in bronze, metal and natural woods. Being a collector of junk, he can't stand to see something go to waste and has recently taken on the passion of functional recycled art. If you can dream it up he can certainly create it.

Ramona Wolf.jpg

Ramona Wolf

Painter

I have loved the arts since I was a child. Over the years I have delved into many forms of art, loving it all, and the creative process it requires. For me that process is very rewarding and it is what calls people to do art. About 6 years ago I began to explore oil painting and of course, I fell in love with it as I had all the other types of art I had tried. Art benefits all people whether they realize it or not. Art brings joy and happiness to the soul. I have been lucky enough to have taken lessons from some wonderful, talented and well-known artists. All in all, I am an art lover of all kinds. I’m happy to share my art with anyone interested, whether just looking or buying.

Donna Hansen 01.JPG

Whimsie Wood

Wood Work, Furniture, Mixed Media

An excess of wooden chairs in a storage unit inspired Donna Hansen Love (AKA: Whimsie Wood) to paint them in brightly colored whimsical patterns.  They sold quickly and my husband Marshell started building toy boxes and birdhouses from left overs. One thing led to another, and now we not only create bird houses and toy boxes but wooden pull toys, picture frames, Christmas ornaments and decorations as well as repurpose wooden chairs, tables and other pieces of furniture.  We can also paint your personal items and do custom work. We live in a 122 year old building in downtown Wynnewood which serves as our home and shop.
